"People buy things because of the way it makes them feel"
Do you agree with this statement?
If so, can you answer the following?
- I know WHAT my customers want to feel
- I know HOW to deliver this to them through my business
- I can SEE they are getting it
If the answers aren't on the tip of your tongue are you missing the point? If you don't serve up what they are after are you are wasting your time?
People might be paying for a cake, car, a holiday or check up but they want to feel excited or calm, comforted or thrilled, classy, special or maybe normal. Maybe just to feel they are 'in control'.
At the same time as you deliver what people want, if you design it right, delivering a well constructed customer experience can save you money!
This is because
a) removing options from your business [to increase consistency]
b) simplifies it and removes work and effort [saving time and money]
all the while increasing your performance, returns and confidence because you know very well what it is your customers want.
Put simply;
- Nail the target emotions
- Drop other ways of doing things
- Be consistent
- Save money + develop advocates who promote you FOR FREE
If they are getting what they want from you, why would they go elsewhere?
